Last of Life Skills

April 3rd, 2007

As the extended marking period comes to an end, the kids from 6V end life skills while they go to music. 10 out of 15 kids said that they enjoyed life skills, proving many kids were exultant at the life skills room. I remember when I couldn’t even know where the presser foot on the sewing machine was. Now I know where all the parts are thanks to Ms. Busque and Ms. V. of the life skills staff. First, we made small doorhangers. then we made excuisite pin cushions. After that, we made unique pillows. Then we all made huge balls. Today, we finished our cool baby chicks. After we finished, Kyle M. brought in sugary marshmallow peeps and cheetos while Ms. Busque brought in doritos and made popcorn.  We got to stay for flex to eat. Ms. Busque fits the job for a life skills. It was her first year too. It was the best life skills class we have ever had….other than the classes where we learned of course!!!

By the way, the presser foot is above the bobbin.

The Taj Mahal

February 20th, 2007

what is made of marble and is one of the most famous landmarks in India? The Taj Mahal of course! If you lived in India, you would know about the Taj Mahal because it’s the biggest tourist attraction in India. 20 out of 20 people would say that the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful landmarks in the world. It is the burial ground of Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz and of the king himself. Jahan’s wife died when the couple had their fourteenth child. In Agra, architects started the construction of the Taj Mahal for Mumtaz’s burial. It was finished in 1648, with the gardens and surrounding buildings finished 5 years later. The design was based on Hindu and Persian culture. This complex is surrounded by a beautiful brick wall and masterful gate. This enormous building is one of the most outsanding in the world.

The Very Crude Awakening!

Look at this scary chart and see how we use the production of oil.

This graph explains that we use a lot of oil. What will we use in the future if we run out of oil??? Some scientists designed a car that runs on compressed air, called the Minicat! This is one clean machine - actually the cleanest in the world! The problem would be that they would cost so much, few people could buy them. There are countries that form an oil production organization called OPEC that controls most of the supply of pumping from their oil fields. The country that has the most, at 65%, is oil fronteir, Saudi Arabia! Some other issues with oil is that the country of Iraq attacked Kuwait for the oil, creating the Persian Gulf War.

Where in the World

December 18th, 2006

Did You know if i could go any where in the world for free, I would go to the Bahamas! I would choose this because it would be warm all the time. I would like to have some creamy lobster bisque or creamy clam chowder. I would also ride the waves on a boogie board and get a tan. I would also go skin diving to see fish and coral reefs. Then I would go to the beach to watch the sunset at dusk. It would be the best vacation ever!
